MA ELT Leadership Team Session 1

Hello MA ELT School Teams,

We are excited to kick-off the ELT technical assistance for this year with our first Leadership Team Session on Tuesday, September 30th from 8am-3pm.  In this session schools will share back-to-school Good News/Urgent Messages/Next Steps, be introduced to the features of High Quality Instruction and Conditions of Collaboration, and will have time as a school team to action plan around connecting the use of Teacher Time to ensure High Quality Instruction at their own school.

ESE will also be conducting a teacher focus group at the session addressing the challenges, changes, successes, and program components of ELT.  We are asking each school to designate one classroom teacher from the ELT school team to participate in the focus group during the lunch hour at the session.  Attached is a more detailed invite outlining what the focus groups are about.  Principals, please respond to the accompanying email with the name of the teacher your team chooses to be a part of the focus group by next Tuesday, September 23rd.

Location and Registration

This session will be held at the Holiday Inn, located at 265 Lakeside Avenue in Marlborough, MA. Please be sure to register each individual team member through the Eventbrite system by the end of the day on Tuesday, September 23rd.

 WHO should attend?

  • All principals
  • Key members of your Instructional Leadership Team; and
  • At least one central office leader

WHAT should you bring?

  • Your school’s back-to-school “Good News and Urgent Messages” regarding your 2014 MCAS data and/or the progress on your Performance agreement measures.  An example is attached (you may recognize the sample from last year). You can bring a poster, newsletter, photos of a bulletin board - any format of your choosing that helps you communicate this news.  Ideally, you’ve already been creating and sharing this information with your teachers, students, families, partners, and other stakeholders – if so, no need to create anything new. We are particularly interested in hearing about specific actions, programs, etc. that may have helped you achieve your Good News, and what steps you may have already taken to address the Urgent Messages. Every member of your team should be prepared to present this information to other school teams on 9/30.  We will collect a copy of the Good News/Urgent Messages from each school team.
  • A laptop or tablet device for each participant (We will introduce you to our new online platform where we now house all of our online materials for your school teams to access during and after the session.  It would be ideal if each member of your school team has a laptop or tablet device for registering to the platform and creating their account)

Thanks so much, and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 30th.  Please reach out to
Shaunda Lewis (slewis@timeandlearning.org) with any questions or concerns.

Best,

The Mass 2020 Team.
